Today, I watched The Pillars of the Earth. Yes, ALL of it. All 8 hours in one day. It was THAT GOOD! Oh my goodness, such nail-biting action. And so many amazing actors. Particularly of note were:

Rufus Sewell, my favorite!

and Matthew MacFadyen, so dreamy!

But I think the person who made the miniseries for me was one, Mr. Eddie Redmayne. Oh my goodness gracious is he attractive. How about some photos? But of course!

Look at that face! Just look at it! How could you say no to 8 hours of that?

Note: I wrote this for a Belle & Sebastian contest about love. I couldn't find a place otherwise on my computer to put it and my blog was already up, so it is just fine if you completely ignore it.

If the whole history of Earth since it first formed was thought of as 24 hours, humans began just 30 seconds ago. Human beings are so young, so how can we even begin to fathom love? Some stars have been around for billions of years, and yet we are preoccupied with movie stars here on Earth: who is dating who, who cheated on who, who divorced who. Such trivialities become banal when faced with the unfathomable age of the universe. And yet we persist- we laugh and love and lose and live our lives until we die. And why? To what purpose, to what end? How is it that so many books and songs and movies are devoted to such an amorphous, abstract concept? I try to see, I try to feel what so many others describe, but I still wonder how such a little word can carry such a big weight. Answers are never easy when it comes to a subjective emotion. I look up at the sky and wonder, do stars love? Do they find each other in the unending space, and hold on to each other, clinging really to one emotion? Is their love akin to that of humans, only projected across millions of years? Do stars experience disappointment and defeat, or are they just plasma held together by gravity? We can be thought of as plasma held together by gravity, so really, how different are humans and stars? And is it really such a stretch to think that love is not, in fact, something only experienced by humans?

Eeeeeeeee guess who I saw in Montreal?!? If you couldn't tell from the picture, I am 97.8% sure I saw Romola Garai at the Museum of Contemporary Art! So so exciting, and definitely one of the high points of my lovely trip. She is one of my absolute favorite actresses and is just wonderful in so many films, Emma especially. So go watch one! I would recommend I Capture the Castle or As You Like It.

Work of Art post, rescinded

So some of you might remember a certain post from (unbelievably over) a month ago that basically professed my adoration for a certain reality TV show contestant. Well I would like to declare that that post is officially rescinded, revoked, and cancelled out.

Oh yes, Miles, although you are adorable and quirky, you have in no way lived up to my expectations. It is true, the OCD, damaged goods act was appealing for the first 5 minutes, and maybe (just maybe) that is how you are in real life (read: not on national television), but I find that your act has become less and less interesting.

And Bravo, don't think I have forgotten you. You played the game quite nicely, indeed. Get my attention with a Miles character and then just wait for me to become addicted to your little show. Thus, making it so guess who is sitting at home in front of the TV every Wednesday night at 9 pm, despite any now opposite feelings about Miles. Ok, little rant over now.

So, new favorites (because what good is a reality show if you don't have favorites?)! I am quite fond of Ryan, Nicole, and Abdi. They three seem like nice, genuine people who make cool stuff. So fingers crossed there. And only 4 or 5 weeks left (depending on whether the finale has 2 or 3 left), and then it will all be over and cease to matter, so that will be that.

Oh Bravo, do you know how to get a girl hooked on a TV show. Even after only one episode of Work of Art: The Next Great Artist, I know I will be watching every single week until the finale. This is due to namely one thing (or person, actually): Miles. Oh yes, I am falling right into Bravo's trap. By having every sort of token person imaginable as a contestant on their reality show, they are sure to cater to all sorts of watchers. In my case, the young, adorable oddball by the name of Miles is just my cup of tea.

So I have been recently listening to Feist's Let It Die and The Reminder quite a lot. Well, I actually usually listen to them lots, but now more than before.

In her "1234" video (which I absolutely love!), she wears a blue sequin jumpsuit. To be frank, I want that jumpsuit. It would be perfect for New Year's with The Flaming Lips in OKC, oh yes. However, I cannot find one quite like it in thrift stores or online. This is actually quite depressing as the internet has never failed me before.

First of all and #1, I love Zooey Deschanel. Secondly, I love her commercial for Cotton, namely her fantastic outfits. (Plus I like her singing!)

This one is my FAVORITE! (caps lock)

I want to own that top!

Those both look like the perfect spring dresses!

Anyway, Zooey is just such a fun person, with a killer fashion sense to top it all off. She also makes super excellent movies and songs!

I especially loved (500) Days of Summer with Joseph Gordon-Levitt. And their music video for "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?" together!

Zooey seems like a very genuine person who would always be pleasant to be around. I would love to be friends with (or just be) her!

Goodbye Cerri!

Well hello dear readers. Tonight, I am quite distressed as Cerri (pronounced "Carrie") has been sent home from Project Runway (the models part). She was my absolute favorite model, to say the least. She is from Ireland and so has a lovely accent. I really think she is stunning though, inside and out, as cheesy as that sounds. Frankly, now I do not particularly care which model "wins" and I like Jonathan a lot less for not choosing Cerri again. Here are some more fantastic pictures of her:

Is she not just gorgeous? Well Project Runway has once again let me down. I find the fact that Leanne, who was/is my overall absolute favorite designer, winning two seasons ago can only go so far to assuage disappointment after disappointment brought on by this show since then. However, I will continue to watch, like I have for the past 6 seasons. I just have to say, if Project Runway were still on Bravo, this wouldn't have happened (except still probably yes).
